I visited Dr. Mahony's practice in Neutral Bay approximately two years ago for sleep apnea concerns. As a non-citizen, I paid nearly $2,000 for initial consultations, X-rays, facial profiling, and a joint consultation with the surgeon—costs I do not dispute. While I have no issue with the medical advice provided in my case, I found Dr. Mahony and his staff to be extremely rude and unprofessional throughout the process. Given the high cost (over $15,000 just for Dr. Mahony's component), the invasive nature of the proposed treatment, and its lifelong implications, I believed it was entirely reasonable to ask detailed questions—such as the expected degree of jaw expansion and the anticipated improvement in my sleep apnea, etc. Unfortunately, Dr. Mahony dismissed these as "asking too many questions." This aligns with numerous other reviews mentioning lax management, frequent cancellations, and significant delays, which I initially ignored given the reputation he holds. Additionally, the surgeon requested my X-rays, but the office failed to provide them despite repeated emails and calls from both me and the surgeon's office. It took over two months to finally receive them—despite having paid for the imaging. The final straw came when a staff member contacted me privately to warn that the practice seemed primarily focused on generating revenue rather than providing good patient care. These experiences led me to decide against proceeding further with the treatment. At this point, I am now receiving my treatment in India from a renowned maxillofacial surgeon, operating from an extremely renowned hospital in Mumbai, who alongside his team promptly address my concerns and queries, and ofcourse, at a fraction of the cost. I decided to leave this review after long because undergoing surgery now reminded me of all the troubles I went through back then and thought it was important for people to understand what to expect when they visit his practice. I honestly hope his practice has improved.
