The Italian Tiler

I would not recommend Costa / The Italian Tiler and I was disappointed with the bathroom renovation he did. The works contain defects, are non-compliant with the National Construction Code, and were not completed despite over 90% of the contract being paid. Photos attached show the condition of the he work completed. Key issues include: No fall to floor wastes – water flows away from drains and ponds on the floor Shower construction is non-compliant (no step-down, hob, or sufficient water stop) Waterproofing concerns: incomplete coverage and exposed waterproofing on waterstops. Waterproofing completed by Costa’s young labourer, who I don’t believe is qualified or certified. No waterproofing certificate provided despite repeated requests. Used a budget waterproof from Bunnings, rather than a professional grade quality material. Very poor tiling workmanship: tiles are not level or aligned and there is excessive lippage Large gaps and uneven protrusions on the tiling to door jambs Mitred edges finished with grout rather than a more durable finish (e.g. epoxy) suitable for wet areas. Poor tile cuts for fixtures - gaps needed to be filled. When I raised concerns, the trader declined to recognise or rectify the defects.

As a first-home buyer and a woman, renovating my kitchen felt intimidating, especially after finally getting strata approval and then dealing with builders quoting unrealistic prices or dismissing my Bunnings kitchen fit-out. Even though this was a relatively simple job, Cost & the team were courteous, respectful of other tenants, coordinated smoothly with the electrician and plumber, and delivered everything on time so I could move in as planned. If you’re looking for a tiler or builder who is fair, reliable, and does quality work without the drama, I would happily recommend Costa -the Italian Tiler!

Costa was extremely professional, helpful, and reliable. He came to our shop on at least two occasions to assess the work. Unfortunately, due to other circumstances, I couldn’t proceed with him this time. That said, I still confidently refer him to family and friends. If you’re looking for premium quality service, definitely hire Costa. He’s a top bloke and you won’t be disappointed.

Tino did a wonderful job tiling our balcony. We needed to retile because of a leak, so for us it was a ‘repair’ project rather than an aesthetic revamp but the finished result exceeded my expectations, beautiful in its simplicity and precision. You can see the care taken in the details producing an outstanding result. It was easy to organise, Tino was pleasant and thoughtful with suggestions and happily worked with an existing waterproofer we had for the job. We highly recommend!
